Biography

Lawrence Shah received MS and PhD degrees in optical physics from the University of Central Florida, in 1999 and 2001 respectively, as a member of the Laser Development Laboratory (LPL) under the direction of Prof. Martin Richardson. Dr. Shah has over 15 years experience in diode-pumped solid-state and fiber laser research and development. Prior to rejoining LPL in 2008, Dr. Shah served as a post-doctoral researcher at LLNL and as a research scientist at IMRA America Inc., developing Yb:YAG solid-state and Yb:fiber laser systems primarily for materials processing applications. Dr. Shah has been awarded over fifteen patents and has authored many peer-reviewed publications primarily on the subjects of high-power Yb and Tm based solid-state and fiber laser system development and associated applications. Dr. Shah currently serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Journal on Quantum Electronics and as a Topical Editor for Optics Letters.
