Best Student Presentation Award at 2008 Photonics West Symposium
Received Best Student Presentation Award for oral presentation at the conference on Fiber Lasers V: Technology, Systems, and Applications at SPIE's Photonics West 2008 Symposium. Presentation titled "External and common-cavity high spectral density beam combining of high power fiber lasers" was based on the recent advances in spectral beam combining utilizing volume Bragg gratings in photo-thermo-refractive glass. Technology for manufacturing these novel optical elements has been developed at CREOL by the Photoinduced Processing Laboratory headed by Dr. Leonid Glebov.
