Jim is a Fellow of SPIE and OSA, and a Senior Member of IEEE. Career Experience prior to UCF: 1999 – 2004: Executive Director, ISA – The Instrumentation, Systems, & Automation Society. Responsible for all staff operations for 35,000 member international engineering society. 1993 – 1999: Executive Director, SPIE – The International Society for Optical Engineering. Responsible for all staff operations for 12,000 member international engineering society. 1991 – 1993: Chief Scientist, United Technologies Research Center 1976 – 1991: United Technologies. President & General Manager of United Technologies Optical Systems. Responsible for all operations of $60M business. Products included high power laser optics, optical systems, laser radar components & systems, custom optics. 1973 – 1976: Hughes Research Laboratories. R&D on adaptive optical systems for atmospheric compensation Personal: Married – Nanci Two children; one son, one daughter; both married. Hobbies: photography, skiing, golf, gardening
