The vision of CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics is to be the nation’s leader in education, research, and scholarship in optical science and engineering. To realize this vision, the College is forging new technology and creating the future of optics and photonics by combining academic excellence and leading-edge research with industry partnerships. We are also pursuing our vision with a new phase of growth and expansion, including new faculty, equipment, and additional building space. In December of 2006 we moved into the first two floors of the new 3-story addition to the CREOL building. Future growth will build out the 3^rd floor, and eventually require building of a final Phase II addition to the building.

The new CREOL addition is on the north side of the original CREOL building and adds a total of 21,000 ft² of laboratory and office space. Only the first two floors (14,000 ft²) have been built out because of limited funds. This new space also provides space for an extension of the highly successful UCF Technology Business Incubator that will allow partner companies to work side-by-side with our faculty and students with ready access to state-of-the-art R&D equipment and facilities. Phase II of this building project will construct a similar 3-story expansion on the east side of the current CREOL Building, giving us 35,000 ft² of additional office and laboratory space.

Achieving our vision and ambitious expansion objectives requires funding support for our new facilities as well as for increasing our endowment funds for endowed faculty chairs, fellowships, equipment, and other expenses. Please note: All private donations of any amount to our building fund are eligible for a 1:1 match from the state of Florida! Just be sure to add to the donor form or in a transmittal letter that your donation is for the CREOL Facilities Enhancement Fund.
