SANTHANAM WINS UNIVERSITY STUDENT RESEARCH HONOR

Congratulations to Anand Santhanam, winner of the Best Oral Presentation at the UCF Graduate Research Forum for the Engineering, Computer Science, Optics, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Simulation and Modeling categories. Santhanam's presentation was entitled, “Visualization of Real-time 3D Lung Dynamics.” Mentors: Jannick Rolland, Sumanta Pattanaik.

Additionally, Santhanam received a prestigious Link Fellowship for 2005. The LINK Foundation Fellowships are for students pursuing research in modeling and simulation across the U.S. The competition is fierce with only three or four given in any one year. Santhanam will be receiving $25,000 from the LINK Foundation to provide a stipend, travel funds, and supplies. His fellowship begins in the fall.

FAREWELL TO KURT BUSCH

Faculty member Kurt Busch has accepted a full professorship with the University of Karlsruhe in Germany beginning May 9 of this year. We are definitely sorry to see him leave; however, we hope to continue to building collaborative relations with him, as well as with the University of Karlsruhe.

SPRING THING YET AGAIN

We celebrated the arrival of spring, once again, with our annual picnic at “Soggy Acres,” otherwise known as the home of our Vice President for Research, M.J. Soileau.

(Photo caption: Drs. Soileau and Van Stryland enjoying the festivities of the day.)

Thanks for the hospitality M.J. You can see photos from the event by clicking here.
