Seminar: “High power picosecond laser with adjustable pulse duration and repetition rate” by Julie Siv

We demonstrate a fiber based laser that generate picosecond pulses with adjustable pulse duration down to 35 ps and adjustable repetition rate from 5 MHz up to 1.2 GHz. The average power can be amplified up to 35 W and the pulse generation method have been implemented at 1030 nm, 1064 nm, 1550nm and after frequency conversion at 775 nm and 532 nm. The pulses are gated thanks to an intensity optical modulator through a CW seeder then they are amplified by a multi-stage Erbium doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) or Ytterbium doped fiber amplifier (YDFA) depending on the wavelength. Burst mode is made possible with the addition of an acousto optic modulator.


Julie Siv received her master degree in Optical Engineering in 2013 from the Institute of Optics in France. Afterwards she worked for 3 years in the French ultrafast laser company Amplitude Technology in the field of petawatt Ti:Sa lasers. Since 2016 she develops scientific business activities in the French startup company Irisiome. Irisiome, spin off of the CELIA (Laboratory for high intensity lasers and their applications) from the university of Bordeaux, integrates and markets laser systems for aesthetic and medical applications. To reach a high added value and a strong differentiating factor in the market of medical laser systems, Irisiome’s has strengthen their expertise by developing its own laser source for it to be highly versatile and user-friendly. To be able to develop the adapted electronic to drive such a system, Irisiome partnered with the LP2N (Photonics, numeric and nanoscience laboratory) from the Intistute of Optics. Irisiome Solutions brand was created to commercialize the laser sources as stand alone systems with high performances for more demanding applications such as science and industry.
