Paper by Professor Konstantin Vodopyanov published in Optica

A paper titled "Optical parametric oscillation in a random polycrystalline medium" by Professor Konstantin Vodopyanov et al. was published in Optica as a memorandum. Optica Memoranda are brief announcements of breakthroughs or innovations that deserve extremely rapid publication and dissemination. It was among the top Optica downloads for June.

We demonstrate an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) based on random phase matching in polycrystalline ZnSe. The OPO was pumped by Cr:ZnS laser pulses (2.35 µm, 62 fs, 79 MHz), had a pump threshold of 90 mW, and produced an ultrabroadband spectrum spanning 3–7.5 µm.
